I grew up here on the farm catching lightning bugs in mason jars
Crickets singing softly out in the yard
My nightlight was a yellow moon, bedtime came way too soon
But each new sunrise brought another day
And looking back God where'd it go, way back then I didn't know
And what I'd give to go back to one of those days
But the world keeps moving on and you can't get back the past
So hold on to each moment and make each moment last
As life went by things began to change, hotrod cars and drinking games Curfews that were set and rarely made
Saturday nights out chasing skirts, falling in love and getting hurt
All are lessons learned as time slips by
And looking back God where'd it go, way back then I didn't know
And what I'd give to go back to one of those days
But the world keeps moving on and you can't get back the past
So hold on to each moment and make each moment last
And Lord knows I've had some hard times, hey I've had some good times too
But hindsight's 20/20 and there's nothing you can do
Cause the world keeps moving on and you can't get back the past
So hold on to each moment and make each moment last
