I was chillin' on my beach chair, tucked in the sand.
Watchin' all the people splash around the water.
Workin' on my suntan, checkin' out that girl
Stretched out in her bikini lookin' like a supermodel.
Well I finally worked the nerve up to strike a conversation.
Now, I usually wouldn't do that, but I'm down here on vacation.
And it's a Monday afternoon,
I got a cold one in my hand.
I bet right about now, the folks back home
Are sittin' a 3:00 traffic jam.
Somewhere freezin' in the bitter cold
Far from me and my beach chair.
And I got nowhere I need to be,
And all day long to get there.
Well I was fallin' off my barstool doin' shots of rum
Off the belly of the waitress workin' at the tiki bar.
Think I remember something about some Elvis karaoke.
Uh, for the life of me I can't remember where I parked my car.
I stumbled to the bungalow, passed out in the front door.
‘Bout the time the world was gettin' ready for work.
Now it's a Thursday 5 AM,
It's been a long long night of debauchery and sin.
But right about now the folks back home
Are cussin' alarm clocks, coffee pots and morning shows.
Somewhere freezin' in the bitter cold
Far from me and my bar chair.
And I got nowhere I need to be,
And all day long to get there.
You know the days drift by like a boat on the tide
In this thatched roof life by the sea.
It's where the blender meets the ice, man it's paradise.
There's a bar on every street.
And it's a beautiful day every day of the week.
I've got palm trees, beer, and sand.
I'll bet right about now the folks back home
Are wakin' up to start the whole thing over again.
Somewhere far away from here
And I don't have a care.
‘Cause I got nowhere I need to be,
And all day long to get there.
Yeah, there ain't nowhere I need to be,
And I got all day long to get there.
