What we're doing here is pretty simple
We're just trying to mine a little coal
It's got no worth, here beneath the dirt
And it's gonna help us reach our goal
It's also pretty simple how we do it
We just remove a layer or so
The soil and the clay, we just push out of the way
Down into the valleys below
Now some think that our actions are excessive
Because we flatten every piece of land
And blow up the mountains up with explosives
But there's something that they don't understand
You can't build a Wal-Mart on a hillside
And you can't put a prison on a slope
So a mountain top blowing up, high into the sky
Is a business deal waiting to be signed
And while we understand that nature is important
And people are kind of important too
The most important thing is profiting
And that's what we are out here to do
Our recipe is underpaid labor
Mixed with automation and machines
Just slash and burn and don't be concerned
About anybody who complains
Just blowup and bulldoze every acre
Make sure that everything's been killed
And if you can't, at least pre-plan
And sell it to somebody who will
We're politicians, bosses, and bankers
And we know exactly where we're bound
We're racing straight to the bottom
And we're not sowing down
[Chorus]
See profits our motive and incentive
It drives us into every deal we make
And we've followed the bills up into the hills
Full of resources and real estate
And one we're done blowing up the mountains
We are gonna make some money from the coal
And while the air is getting thicker, and we are gettin' richer
The flattened hills are gonna be sold
And once they're sold they're gonna be developed
And structures will take the place of trees
And once we're done building all the strip malls
We're gonna get up and leave
[Chorus]
